Welcome to Sew Serenity Cottage on Etsy

There are moments in life when the days move so quickly that some things quietly slip through the cracks.

Opening my Etsy shop was one of those moments.

Months ago, I officially opened Sew Serenity Cottage on Etsy with dreams of sharing my quilts and handmade creations with others who appreciate the comfort, warmth, and stories stitched into every piece. But life had other plans. Between selling our home, moving into RV life, adjusting to a completely new season, and simply trying to keep up with everyday life, I never properly introduced the shop here on the blog.

So today feels like the perfect time to finally say…

Welcome to Sew Serenity Cottage.

Long before there was ever an Etsy shop, there was simply a love for quilting and creating handmade things. Sew Serenity Cottage originally began as a blog and website where I could document the quilts I was making, share my projects, and keep track of the creative journey along the way. It was never intended to be a place to sell what I created.

At the time, I simply wanted a cozy little corner on the internet where I could share what I loved.

The name itself carries a meaning that still fits perfectly today.

“Sew” is what I do.
“Serenity” is what quilting brings to my life.
And “Cottage” came from the dream that maybe one day, somewhere down the road, there could be a small little cottage-style shop where people could walk in, feel welcome, and be surrounded by beautiful handmade things.

Even though that little cottage only exists in my imagination for now, the heart behind it remains very real.

For a long time, I honestly didn’t believe my quilts were good enough to share beyond family and friends. Like many makers, I saw every imperfect seam and every tiny flaw long before I saw the beauty in the finished piece.

But my family — especially my daughter, Christine — kept encouraging me to believe otherwise.

They constantly reminded me that my quilts were beautiful and deserved to be shared with others. Christine especially encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and put my work out into the world, even when I doubted myself.

Opening the Etsy shop was a leap of faith for me.

And truthfully, the kindness and encouragement I’ve received from buyers since opening has meant more than I can fully put into words. Every review, every thoughtful message, and every repeat customer has slowly helped me begin to see my work through someone else’s eyes.

What once felt scary now feels incredibly humbling.

To know that something I created with my own hands is now living in someone else’s home… bringing warmth, comfort, or simply making them smile… that is something I never take for granted.

That’s really what Sew Serenity Cottage has become.

Not just a quilt shop.

But a place filled with stories, comfort, creativity, and pieces made with intention.

Every quilt in the shop has spent hours — and honestly, sometimes months — coming to life. From choosing fabrics and cutting pieces to quilting the final stitches, each one carries part of my journey inside of it.

Some quilts are cheerful and bright. Some feel soft and nostalgic. Some remind me of simpler times and cozy homes. But every single one is made slowly and carefully in a world that often moves far too fast.

And now that life is beginning to settle a little after so much transition, I’m slowly finding my way back into quilting more regularly again. Creativity took a backseat for a while during all the changes that came with selling our home and moving into RV life, but sitting back down at my sewing machine lately has felt a little like coming home.

I still have quilts to finish.
New ideas waiting patiently.
Fabric stacks calling my name.
And more stories left to stitch.

So if you’ve found your way here, thank you for being part of this journey with me.

Whether you simply enjoy following along, reading about quilting projects, or browsing the quilts available in the shop, I’m truly grateful you’re here.

And if you’d like to visit the Etsy shop and see the quilts currently available, I’d love for you to stop by.

Because every stitch truly does tell a story.

With gratitude,
Anna
