The Stitchery Sampler Quilt was only the second quilt I ever completed, and it holds such a special place in my quilting journey. I first shared about finishing the quilt top back on August 22, 2021. Now, almost four years later, I finally put this quilt top on Miss Moxie and gave her the finish she deserved.
I’ll admit, I had been putting this one off. From the start, I dreamed of custom quilting it instead of using a simple edge-to-edge design. But after four years, I’m still not quite comfortable enough with custom quilting—and hiring it out just isn’t in the budget. So, I did what I could, and I’m happy to say the results turned out better than I expected.
For this quilt, I chose the edge-to-edge design Knit 1 Purl 2. It added just the right texture and movement, and while I know custom quilting would have made it even more stunning, sometimes finishing is more important than perfection.
At the beginning of this year, I set a goal to longarm every quilt top I completed between 2021 and 2024. Finishing this quilt is one more step toward reaching that goal—and it feels so good to finally check this one off the list.
