The 2025 Block of the Month by Corey Yoder marks the very last quilt I completed this year, and it was also the final BOM I committed to back in January. Finishing it feels a little bittersweet… but if I’m being completely honest, mostly relieving. 😉
This project stretched me in ways I didn’t quite expect. The repeated half-square triangles were not my favorite part of the process, and working month after month without knowing how the quilt would ultimately come together made this BOM feel very different from others I’ve done. I tend to enjoy seeing the bigger picture unfold as I go, so the mystery aspect added a layer of uncertainty that challenged my patience more than usual.
That said, there’s still something satisfying about sticking with a project from start to finish — even when it isn’t your absolute favorite. The fabric line, Cali and Co, also designed by Corey Yoder, has some lovely individual colors that I truly enjoy. While I don’t see myself reaching for this collection again for future makes, it worked well for this quilt and reflects the spirit of the project.
Once the top was complete, I quilted it on Miss Moxie using my tried-and-true pantograph, Knit 1 Purl 2. It’s a design I come back to often — soft, timeless, and perfect for adding texture without overpowering the piecing. Watching the quilt come to life during the quilting phase was my favorite part of the entire process.
Finishing this quilt feels like closing the final chapter on my 2025 quilting goals. It may not be the quilt that stole my heart, but it represents commitment, perseverance, and a year filled with creativity, learning, and growth — and that makes it a meaningful finish all the same.
Here’s to wrapping things up, learning what we love (and don’t), and making space for what’s next. 💛
