There’s something especially satisfying about finally finishing a quilt that has been part of your life for an entire year, and this one truly fits that description. My Raspberry Summer Block of the Month quilt officially began in January 2025 and wrapped up in December, making it a full twelve-month journey from the first block to the final stitch.
Each month, Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life released a new block using a classic log cabin–style design, and I looked forward to those releases more than I expected. There’s something comforting about the rhythm of a block of the month—one block at a time, no rush, just steady progress. I followed along using Sherri’s Raspberry Summer fabric collection, which I absolutely fell in love with from the very beginning. The soft reds, pinks, creams, and touches of blue feel fresh and timeless all at once, and they work beautifully within the log cabin layout.
As the months went on, the quilt slowly grew into something bigger than just individual blocks. Watching the colors repeat and play together as each new block was added made the process so enjoyable. Some months felt quicker than others, but I stayed the course, and before I knew it, December had arrived and the final block was complete.
I’ll admit, I’m pretty glad to say this block of the month is finished. A year is a long commitment, but seeing the completed quilt makes it all worth it. There’s a sense of accomplishment that comes with finishing something you’ve stayed consistent with for twelve months straight.
The photos of the finished quilt are below. This one will always remind me that slow and steady really does create something beautiful—one block, one month, and one stitch at a time.
